Wiluna Bride // Wedding Day Inspiration
I was part of a collaboration between some incredible Canberran wedding vendors for a shoot to feature in Hooray magazine. The concept was to bring to life the free spirited bohemian bride that embodied the Wiluna Studio aesthetic, with wedding day styling inspiration shot in the Wiluna studio space, and the ‘day after’ story shot in the Naked Cubby ( see the next blog post for the images!). Earthy toned fresh and dried florals feature in the ceremony and reception styling, as well as a gorgeous bouquet and floral hat!
The talented (mostly) Canberra based vendors that formed this team included : Larissa from Wiluna Studio, Kate Anderson from Kate Lily Dressing Hair, Jessica Peris from The Beautique by Jessica Peris, Brow Lab, The Paper Botanist, Mrs Fray, The Naked Cubby, and our real life couple Linlin and Ben. Full credits and links to vendor websites at the bottom of the post.

Blossom : A Spring Editorial
Every Spring, Canberra explodes with blossoming trees for roughly 2-3 weeks. Tracy and I decided to make the most of it this Spring so we foraged some pretty pink blossoms (as well as using some gorgeous cotton flowers she picked up from one of Wiluna Studio’s dried flower pop-ups) to use in a dreamy pink toned portrait shoot.

White Gold- Beauty Editorial
For an awesome 6 months before Liam was born, we had an incredible makeup artist (and amazing musician) as a housemate. On the rare occasions where we were both free on the same weekend, we loved planning simple shoots at home. This was one of them.
It takes experience and skill to do the minimalist ‘no makeup makeup’ look, and great artistry to incorporate a pop of interest (e.g. gold foil on lids, bright yellow shadow, blue eyeliner) without it looking out of place. Vendulka is a wizard!

Lara- A Summer Beauty Editorial
This editorial was shot during a scorching summer’s day in January at my home in Canberra. We wanted to shoot some very pared back, minimalist looks that were all about light and shadows on perfect glowy skin, set off with some chic pieces by local Aussie designers.
I love shooting editorial portraits with direct light on the skin, so when we have a bright sunny day and a model with incredible skin, I’m a happy girl.

Homecoming - an editorial
In the 6 months before they fenced off and knocked down the Bega Flats in Canberra, I had noticed the building becoming gradually quieter as the tenants started vacating. It was on my regular jogging route, and for the first time I noticed what a cool building it was. I ended up doing an editorial shoot there with Gem (images from the shoot in this blog post)
Bega was part of the 'ABC' flats - Allawah, Bega, Currong, and they were all in the process of being cleared to make way for new buildings. This reminded me of Alphabet City in New York, as it was protrayed in 'Rent'- this suddenly made the demolition incredibly evocative and nostalgic. When I heard from Laura (from Lux & Us) that she spent the first year of her life there I knew that I had to take her portraits in that location.

Brave New World // Stell Magazine - Editorial shot in Futuro House
I loved working on this kickass shoot with our fantastic team, headed by our art director Helen. Helen approached me with an idea of shooting in the iconic Futuro House (a spaceship house designed by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen, currently residing in a courtyard at UC). How could I say no to a shoot in a space ship??!

Fitters Workshop Canberra Photo Shootout - 1 model 3 photographers
When Canberra based photographers Deejay Jukic and Garry Chiu told me that they hired the Fitter's Workshop in Kingston for a photography shootout I was pretty excited about the idea. I have always wanted to do a shoot in this gorgeous space (outside of a wedding). The concept was that Deejay was going to style several outfits, and we would all have a turn at shooting the same model- this type of photography challenge has gone a bit viral in the past year or so amongst portrait and fashion photographers, probably because it is so much fun and also a great learning experience.
We have very different photography and model directing styles so it was a fun experiment to see we use the same space and model- and how the images turn out. In general, I like my images clean, facial expressions ethereal and emotive, slouchy/loungey poses, and with an editorial style (sometimes it works out, sometimes not haha).
I was driving from Sydney so I only had the chance to shoot this one look and had to miss the the first 2 - the photos from Deejay and Garry are looking amazing though! Looking forward to seeing the edited sets!

Wearable Art : Shooting for Australian Brand One Of Twelve
At the end of last year I was fortunately enough to be involved with the brand launch of Australian clothing company One Of Twelve. I was commissioned to create some product and editorial style photos with the founder and creative director of One Of Twelve- Anna Saboisky.
I absolutely love the aesthetic of the brand, the incredible artwork on the scarves, and the quality of the silk.

Bonbon - An Editorial
I'm obsessed with pink walls, and every time I travel I gravitate towards them as predictably as a dog gravitates towards the nearest tree. So I've been eye-ing this dilapidated vacant apartment block with pink walls near my place in Braddon and dreaming of portraits I could shoot with it.
I couldn't think of anyone who would suit this shoot more than the talented Gem Chua (represented by Devojka Models). She fit the urban lolita vibe to a tee, and rocked a flower in her mouth like no one else could (except maybe Lana Del Rey), and we shot this almost completely impromptu in 45mins.

Only Forward / Open Fields - An Editorial for Big Ink Magazine
We shot this editorial for Big Ink magazine at the end of the summer. I keep coming back to the Virgin Suicides aesthetic in my inspiration boards, and I wanted to take advantage of Canberra's endless open fields before the cold weather started to set in.

Authentic Design: An editorial
I loved being part of this editorial which explores authenticity of design and the journeys of four extremely talented furniture designers. It is truly inspiring to see the amount of talent in Canberra- what I would now consider a melting pot of creative energy and a (surprising?) shift from how things were even as recently as 5 years ago.
